Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information BarnCostHub (“we,” “us,” or “the site”) collects when you visit barncosthub.com, how that information is used, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to the practices described here.

BarnCostHub does not sell your personal information. We have no user accounts, no logins, and no advertising network. The site is a static set of pages and in-browser tools.

1. Information we collect

We collect very little, and only in three ways:

• Information you choose to send us — what you type into the contact form (your name, email address, optional state, project type, and message).
• Calculator and visualizer inputs — the dimensions and options you enter into our tools (see Section 2).
• Usage and device data — standard, largely anonymized analytics such as pages visited, approximate region, browser type, and referring site, collected only if analytics is enabled and not blocked (see Section 3).

We do not ask for and do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as government identifiers, financial account numbers, or health data.

2. Calculator and visualizer usage data

Our cost calculators and 3D visualizer run entirely in your browser. The numbers you enter — building type, width, length, height, finishes, and similar options — are used to compute an estimate on your device. These values are not transmitted to a BarnCostHub server or database.

To make estimates shareable and bookmarkable, your inputs may be stored in the page’s web address (URL) and in your browser’s local storage (for example, to remember your theme preference). Anyone you share an estimate link with will be able to see the inputs encoded in that link. Clearing your browser data removes anything stored locally.

3. Analytics

When configured, we use privacy-conscious analytics to understand which pages and tools are useful so we can improve the site. We may use:

• Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — aggregate traffic and event metrics. We enable Google Consent Mode and request IP-anonymized measurement.
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Corporation) — aggregate usage metrics and heatmaps that help us see where pages are confusing.

Analytics is an optional enhancement. If analytics is not configured, is blocked by your browser or an extension, or you have enabled a “Do Not Track” signal, the site detects this and loads no analytics — every calculator, the visualizer, and the contact form continue to work exactly the same. When we send analytics events (for example, that a contact message was submitted), we record only non-identifying details such as the selected project type — never your name, email, or message contents.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

BarnCostHub does not use cookies for advertising. The site itself sets no marketing cookies. The only cookies or local-storage entries that may appear are:

• Preference storage — a small local-storage value remembering your light or dark theme choice.
• Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and/or Microsoft Clarity only when those services are active and not blocked, used to measure aggregate usage.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can use a tracker-blocking extension, without breaking any feature of the site.

5. Contact form submissions

When you submit the contact form, your message is delivered to us through Formspree, a third-party form-processing service, and forwarded to our email inbox. The information you provide (name, email address, optional state, project type, and message) is used solely to read and respond to your inquiry.

We do not use contact details for marketing and do not share them with third parties except the service providers that deliver the message to us. If you would rather not use the form, you can email us directly at contact@barncosthub.com.

6. Third-party services

We rely on a small number of reputable providers to operate the site. Each processes data only as needed to perform its function, under its own privacy policy:

• Formspree — contact-form delivery.
• Google Analytics — usage analytics (when enabled).
• Microsoft Clarity — usage analytics (when enabled).
• Our hosting/CDN provider — serves the website and may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) for security and reliability.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites we may link to. We encourage you to review the policies of any third-party service you interact with.

7. How we use information

• To respond to messages you send us.
• To operate, maintain, and secure the website.
• To understand aggregate usage and improve our tools and content.
• To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

8. Data retention

Calculator and visualizer inputs are never stored on our servers, so there is nothing for us to retain. Contact messages are kept in our email and form provider only as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence, after which they may be deleted. Analytics data is retained in aggregate according to the providers’ standard retention settings. You may ask us to delete a message you sent us at any time.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. Because we hold so little data, exercising these rights is usually straightforward:

• Decline analytics by using a tracker blocker or a “Do Not Track” browser setting.
• Clear cookies and local storage through your browser at any time.
• Request access to, or deletion of, any contact message you have sent us by emailing contact@barncosthub.com.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.

10. Children’s privacy

BarnCostHub is intended for a general, adult audience interested in construction cost information. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Security

The site is served over encrypted HTTPS connections. We choose established service providers and limit the personal data we collect, which reduces risk. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information through the contact form.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be made reasonably prominent. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
